A lot of people think it is hard coming up with stocking stuffers for boys, but it is actually pretty easy when you think about the things he likes to do. Boys are sometimes even more fun than girls because there are a lot of neat things they tend to enjoy like building kits and more.
Here are our favorite stocking stuffers for boys:
Building Sets: Boys like to build stuff, and so there are all types of building sets to consider. Lego makes all sorts of stocking sized sets, and there are also brands like K’Nex and others. You can either buy a big box and then divide them up amongst several kids, or look for small stocking size sets that will compliment other toys your child already has.
Action Figures: Many action figures can fit easily into a stocking, whether it be from their favorite movie, their favorite super hero, or even those little plastic army guys. The possibilities are endless on these ones.
Art Stuff: While boys most likely won’t like the glitter glue girl crafts, they may like a nice set of colored pencils, a book on how to draw things like cars, trucks, and dinosaurs, or even crayons and a coloring book if they are younger. Older kids might like a sketchpad or kits for making bugs and creepy crawly crafts.
Brain Puzzles: There are a number of different brain puzzles that your boys might like. Crossword puzzles, Suduko puzzles, logic puzzles – they all make for good gifts. You could also look for triva games and flash cards that might fit into their stocking.
Small Games: For older kids, you might want to look into travel sized games that not only fit nicely in a stocking but will also keep them occupied in the car or while waiting somewhere. Look for the classics or get a new game you haven’t tried yet. There’s also a number of card games that will fit great into a stocking that they might like. Small puzzles are another good gift.
Flashlights: I’ve yet to meet a boy who doesn’t like flashlights, and they tend to always need more because they will lose them! (This is true even of the 35 year old “boy” I married!) My favorite pick for this are the crank no batteries required flashlights – especially for younger kids who seem to not realize if you leave them on all the time the batteries will die. The wind up flashlights are also great for having when the power goes off or in the car, so it makes a great stocking stuffer for really just about anyone. Click Here to See Crank Flashlights
Stickers and Tattoos: Boys will also love age appropriate stickers and temporary tattoos. Look for ones that have a jungle theme, motorcycles, cars and trucks, creepy crawly bugs, and others.
Food: Food is another great gift. One long standing tradition is to put an orange in the stocking, or you can also put in other fruits like dried fruit snacks, apples, or bananas. I’ve put everything from pudding cups to snack cakes in my kids stocking – so it’s up to you what you put in and how healthy it is. I’ve found some of my kids favorite lunch box snacks are perfect – and I’ll be able to pack them in their lunches, too!
Small Toys: You can also opt for many different small toys, whether they be metal die cast cars, toy dinosaurs, yo-yos, marbles or others.
Funny Gifts: For older kids with a sense of humor, there are all types of good funny stocking stuffers, like slingshot monkeys, novelty bandages, and more.
Big Ticket Items: Sometimes it is a fun surprise to hide something really unexpected in a stocking that would usually be reerved for an actual gift. Inexpensive digital cameras, mp3 players, Nintendo DS games, DVDs, CDs, and more are all really good bets with just about any kid. If you want to save money, I always check out sites like Amazon.com first where you can get everything a lot cheaper than you would pay in the stores – and even get free shipping on most items for orders over $25. Last year I was able to get all of the new release movies for $10-$12 there when other stores in my area wanted $17.99 or more!
