When you are looking to fill a stocking, most people do not want to spend a lot of extra money, especially if they’ve already bought the other gifts they were planning to give. Having a long list of cheap and inexpensive stocking stuffers can really help you give great little trinkets without breaking the bank. Most of these items here can be found for often less than just a few dollars and fit well into nearly any stocking of any size!

Here are some of our favorite ideas for cheap stocking stuffers:

Health & Beauty Items: Lotions, shampoos, shaving cream, and other great travel items and accessories can be found in the health and beauty section of most stores. You can usually count for most of these things to be less than a $1 and usually useful as well. Christmas is a great time to get a new toothbrush and they are usually less than a couple of dollars as well. You may also be able to find things such as their favorite soaps, bubble baths, and even inexpensive perfume scents as well.

Food: Food is another easy and inexpensive thing to give that is also useful. Whether it’s candy bars, fresh fruit, or a favorite drink these all can often times fit well into a stocking. You can go with either special holiday themed goodies, or go for something else that is a special treat the person does not eat every single day. Money Saving Tip: If you have multiple people you are buying for, consider getting bulk items, such as a package of many candy bars or a box of individually wrapped cookies for example.

Make-Up: Things like lip gloss, eye shadow, nail polish, and body glitter are all very inexpensive and can be a well recieved gift for moms and teen girls. Really want to save money? You can try making your own homemade lip gloss recipe.

School & Home Office Supplies: School aged kids will love things like mechanical pencils, pens, markers, crayons, colored pencils, calculators, stickers and more, all of which can usually be found very inexpensively.

Games & Amusements: There are a number of great pocket sized games that are often less than a dollar, or you could even make your own. Crossword puzzle books, suduko books, or even a deck of cards can all make for good games.

Travel Items: Whether it’s a map, a clip on book light, luggage tags, travel sized tissues & wipes, or something else small that is helpful when traveling, it can make for a great gift for the avid traveler!

Used Book Sales: If you have some time to plan, think about hitting up used book sales at Libraries and other places. You can often get books for a mere quarter, and they’re entertaining and educational as well. It’s also nice to know that it also can help a good cause such as supporting your local library.

Homemade Coupons: Making your own homemade coupon book is an easy way to give someone the gift of time for the holidays. Whether you offer to do the dishes for a night or cook dinner, they will always be much appreciated.

Coffee: Whether it’s a $5 gift card to their favorite coffee shop or a small bag of a new flavor you know they would like, coffee lovers love getting any gift that is about coffee! You could also try specialty stirrers or look at thrift shops for a unique coffee mug you know they will appreciate.

Mini-Lights: Small flashlights and night lights always are useful and are one of those things you can never get enough of.

Bulk Christmas Ornaments: A tradition I started with my kids is to give each of them a small Christmas ornament each year, so they will have enough hopefully for decorating their own tree by the time they are adults. They also each love having their own to hang when we decorate our tree as well. You can often get some really good deals on bulk assorted ornaments, so you can do this for a lot of people or save them for a few years to come.

Socks, Hats, Scarves, and Gloves: The winter months are the perfect time to stock up on new socks, gloves, hats, and maybe even hand warmers if that would be age appropriate and useful. You can find these items cheaply at most stores, or hunt thrift shops. If you are one who likes to knit or sew, you could even make your own.

Make Jewelry: Whether you make your own jewelry or just hunt the bargain bins at stores, you can often find or make pretty earrings, bracelets, and rings easily.

Hardware Items: For guys, you can usually find things like drill bits, sandpaper, nuts, bolts, and other hardware items rather cheaply for just a few dollars at your local home improvement store. You could also get creative and make something out of those things.

Photos: You can usually get photos printed at rock bottom prices, and they make for a lasting memory that a lot of people will cherish. Make your own frame or matte it on some paper or attach some magnetic backing to it for a creative and custom gift idea.

Bubbles: Bubbles can either be made with some inexpensive dish soap liquid or you can usually find them for low prices in the store also. You could also try making your own bubble baths also.

Loose Change: If you have a few quarters or pennies or nickels, consider putting some of those in the stocking also. You can either just put them in loose, or consider doing something creative, like taping them to a cut out piece of paper of a tree for their very own “money tree”. You could also wrap them into a tiny sized box also.

Seeds & Garden Items: Does the person love gardening? You could easily get some seed packets or perhaps gardening gloves or a trowel. You may need to look for this one in the summer and keep them, but this also makes for a great gift that is inexpensive.
